D. Y. Patil College of Physiotherapy, Kolhapur under the patronage of D.Y.Patil Group of Institutes was set up in the premises of D.Y.Patil Medical College and Hospital Kolhapur in the year 1999. lt incorporated a long term vision and objective of the necessity of Physiotherapy college along with the hospital.

D.Y.Patil College of Physiotherpy grew in dimension and quality over the years. Today it is one of the best sections as complementary to the various departments in the hospital.

The Institute is very well equipped with all advanced Physiotherapeutic modalities like Electrotherapy and Exercise Therapy unit. This speciality occupies an area of five thousand sq.ft with areas demarcated for Neuro Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation , Geriatric care,
Ortho and Sports and Cardio-Vascular Rehabilitation etc.

On its academic side its results of the undergraduate course having been uniformly above 85% in last 3 yrs. Experienced & devoted staff contributes to the increasing need & important of this discipline from time to time.

Physiotherapy is one of the closest ally of Medicine. Almost every section of the hospital and also the community whether it is Orthopedics, Pediatrics Obstetrics, ICU etc need to take help of Physiotherapy dayin and dayout.

Rehabilitation is everybody's concern and physiotherapy happens to be the leader of the team.
With increasing demands from medical profession in number and quality, the supply of Physiotherapists is shockingly too short. The brain drain to other countries is the highest.

ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS:

An applicant for admission to the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course shall have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (12 years course), Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), Predegree Examination (10+2) or an equivalent with 12 years schooling with Biological, Physical sciences and English and also the AICET conducted by D.Y.Patil University, Kolhapur.

The duration of the course is 4 academic years and 6 months of compulsory.
	Rotatory Internship.
	The BPTh course starts in August every year.
	Selection will be strictly based on merit.
	The intake capacity will be 30 per year.
	Other relevant terms and conditions will be similar to the MBBS course.
